Latino Officials’ ‘Fight for the Spoils’

I read Acuna’s article regarding Councilman Richard Alatorre, and I must say it appeared to be very one-sided. I am an active member of the Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce. Alatorre has always been very supportive of the community--readily available by phone and in person to listen to our requests. Most important, he has always followed through with problem-solving and requests.
The councilman formed a volunteer group, The Colorado Boulevard Specific Plan, composed of local citizens, which I had the privilege to serve on. This committee met for more than a year planning community growth and development, a plan that will become a reality in the next few weeks. The councilman and his staff were always available to help with and answer the countless difficult questions that arose during our many meetings.
