One man was killed and two others were seriously injured Friday when a speeding car went out of control on the Hollywood Freeway in Studio City and crashed into a barrier wall, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Officer John Lessentine said the accident occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway near the Lankershim Boulevard exit. The name of the 18-year-old Hollywood man who was killed in the crash was not released.
The victim was driving the car at about 100 m.p.h. when he lost control of it and hit the freeway median, Lessentine said. The car rebounded across all the northbound lanes of the freeway, went up an embankment and hit a light pole and barrier wall. The car overturned, ejecting the driver and two passengers.
The driver died at the scene. Passengers Carlos A. Juarez, 23, of Hollywood and a 17-year-old Hollywood youth whose name was not released suffered serious injuries and were being treated at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Lessentine said.
