Pianist Carson to Open CSLB Season With Liszt Program

Opening the 1990-91 concert season at Cal State Long Beach, pianist Michael Carson will give a complete performance of Franz Liszt’s nine-part “First Year: Switzerland” (1848-54), from the composer’s “Years of Pilgrimage,” on a faculty recital in University Theatre, Saturday at 8 p.m.
The rest of Carson’s program lists four pieces by Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev’s Seventh Sonata.
This performance will benefit the Cal State Long Beach opera program, of which Carson is director.
