A 13-year-old girl was killed and a 2-year-old boy critically wounded in separate shootings in South Los Angeles, authorities said today.
Gang antagonists were suspected in the fatal shooting late Tuesday, which also left the victim’s 16-year-old boyfriend critically wounded.
The girl killed, Claudette Ku, who was not a gang member, died early today of a head wound suffered as she was riding in a car with her boyfriend, Carlos Perez. Police said shots were fired into the car by youths in a white Buick Regal that pulled up next to it and demanded to know where the couple was from.
Sheriff’s detectives, meanwhile, suspected gang involvement in the wounding of 2-year-old Jonathon Fabian, shot in the stomach Tuesday evening as he played in a toy car in front of his home in Lynwood. Two witnesses saw three youths running away.
