Ventura County Democrats are scheduled to open a campaign headquarters on Friday in Oxnard as county Republicans prepare to open their fifth campaign office in the county.
Democrats/Labor United, a fund-raising group, is sponsoring an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. for their new Democratic campaign headquarters at 315 W. 4th St. in Oxnard.
State Sen. Gary K. Hart (D-Santa Barbara) and Assemblyman Jack O’Connell (D-Carpinteria) are scheduled to preside over the official opening of the campaign office for Democratic candidates in the Nov. 6 election.
Meanwhile, the county’s Republican Party is planning to open its fifth office at 950 County Square Drive in Ventura on Sept. 20, Gwen Tillemans, chairwoman of the county Republican Central Committee, said. She said Rep. Robert J. Lagomarsino (R-Ventura) and Assemblyman Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks) will attend.
The Republican Party, which has 142,513 registered voters to the Democratic Party’s 122,685 in the county, has campaign offices in Oxnard, Camarillo, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks, Tillemans said.
