The premiere of a new ballet by Clark Tippet, a new production of the full-length “Coppelia” and the full-length “La Bayadere” will be among works danced by American Ballet Theatre, March 12 to 24, 1991, at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.
Clark’s new ballet, currently untitled, will be set to Michael Tippet’s Piano Sonata No. 1. “Coppelia,” choreography by Arthur Saint-Leon to music by Leo Delibes, will be staged by Enrique Martinez, who designed a production of the ballet for ABT in 1968.
“La Bayadere” was staged for ABT by Natalia Makarova in 1980.
Other works scheduled for the Orange County engagement include Jiri Kylian’s “Sinfonietta” (music by Janacek), a revival of Kenneth MacMillan’s “Concerto” (Shostakovich) and works to be announced. Information: (714) 556-2787.
