Two men were charged Friday with murder and attempted robbery in the July 17 death of Raymond Shield, 61. Shield was shot at 5:15 a.m. in front of his wife, daughter and two grandchildren while waiting at the West Covina Holiday Inn for an airport shuttle bus.
Arraignment is set Monday in Citrus Municipal Court in West Covina for Paul S. Watkins, 22, of Moreno Valley, and Lucien A. Martin, 19, of Gardena. Authorities said the two men have been in custody since they were arrested July 17 after a crime rampage that began in Riverside and ended in Gardena. But police delayed filing murder charges against the two until sufficient evidence was gathered.
