A Ventura woman found guilty of four counts of welfare fraud was sentenced this week to six months in jail and five years probation.
Ramoni Cherise Lofton, 34, was convicted by Superior Court Judge Robert Bradley of receiving welfare payments and food stamps for one of her three children by withholding the fact that the boy’s father was living with them.
Between August, 1987, and February, 1990, she fraudulently received $14,232 in welfare payments and $1,854 in food stamps, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Steve Phillips.
