Pan Am, United Reach Deal: Pan Am Corp. reached final agreement late Wednesday night to sell important trans-Atlantic routes to United Airlines, apparently killing a takeover proposal by Trans World Airlines Inc. Pan Am and United announced that they had signed the final documents, but said no further details would be available until this morning. Pan Am and United announced late last month that they had struck the $400-million deal. But the deal was thrown into question over the weekend when it was announced that TWA had proposed merging with Pan Am if the arrangement with United fell through.
