LONG BEACH — The city’s Parks and Recreation Department is among 50 golf facilities and municipalities that have received the 1990 Public Golf Achievement Award from the National Golf Foundation.
The award recognizes programs that address the concerns and meet the challenges faced by public golf facility operators, including meeting increased demand. Long Beach Parks and Recreation was recognized for installing telephone devices that allow the hearing impaired to call to reserve tee times.
The telephone is hooked up to the regular telephone lines at Recreation Park Golf Course. Anyone wishing to make phone reservations must first purchase a reservation card at the Recreation Park Golf Course Pro Shop, 5000 E. Anaheim St. The card costs $5 and is valid for one year. To make reservations, call 498-0977 or 421-0582.
