Soviet rockers screaming “I want my MTV!” got their wish last month.

According to the Associated Press, a two-years-in-the-making deal between the New York-based cable music video channel and the Soviet television company Gostelradio will bring the programming to 88 million Soviet households on an hourlong weekly basis.

The show and commercials--including several from such U.S. advertisers as LA Gear and Wrangler--are entirely in English with only Russian-language subtitles to guide young rockers.

“I don’t know anything about music. In my line, you don’t have to.”

--Elvis Presley (1935-1977)
