Concerned that loud music would bother nearby residents, the City Council imposed severe restrictions on a restaurateur’s plans to offer dancing at a billiards club planned for Third Street Promenade.
The council voted 6 to 0, with Councilwoman Christine E. Reed absent, to limit to twice a month any dancing or loud music beyond 9 p.m. at the billiards club, which will also include a bar and restaurant.
The council’s vote Tuesday night modified the Planning Commission’s earlier approval of the establishment, planned for 1431 Third Street Promenade. A neighbor and the project’s developer had appealed the terms of the commission’s approval.
