NHL ROUNDUP : Oilers Streak the Other Way With 3-1 Win

Petr Klima and Craig Simpson scored in the first period and the resurgent Edmonton Oilers gained their third victory in a row Sunday night with a 3-1 decision over the New York Islanders at Edmonton.
The Stanley Cup champion Oilers lost a club-record nine straight games before their streak.
Max Middendorf blasted in a rebound off the end board early in the third period to make it 3-0 before New York’s Rich Pilon scored his first NHL goal to end Bill Ranford’s shutout bid.
Winnipeg 4, St. Louis 3--Ed Olzcyk’s power-play goal with 3:35 left capped a three-goal rally that pushed the Jets past the Blues at Winnipeg.
The victory snapped Winnipeg’s three-game losing streak and ended St. Louis’ six-game winning streak.
Brett Hull of St. Louis had his 20th and 21st goals.
New Jersey 4, Philadelphia 1--Troy Crowder and Kirk Muller scored first-period goals at Philadelphia and the Devils beat the Flyers, who managed just 15 shots, for the second consecutive day.
The Devils beat the Flyers, 3-2, the day before at East Rutherford, N.J., and have beaten Philadelphia five times in the last seven games.
