An Alpine woman was killed and her husband injured when their pickup truck was rammed by a speeding hit-and-run driver in Fallbrook. Audry June Hall, 60, died at Palomar Medical Center about 5:25 p.m. Monday, a CHP spokesman said. Her husband, Sherrel Hall, 60, was in fair condition Tuesday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
The accident occurred about 3:10 p.m. Monday when the driver of a car sped across all four lanes of traffic at about 100 m.p.h. on southbound Interstate 15, south of Mission Road, and struck the Halls’ pickup, knocking it over an embankment, the CHP spokesman said. The disabled car was found about half a mile away. The driver had fled on foot.
