Chuck Berry Decision A judge dropped child- abuse charges against Chuck Berry, but the rock ‘n’ roll legend was put on two years’ unsupervised probation for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, his lawyer said Wednesday. The child-abuse charges were dropped Tuesday by circuit Judge Lucy Rauch in St. Charles, Mo., Berry’s attorney said. As part of plea negotiations, Berry said that the marijuana found during a raid of his home in July was not his, but that he would accept probation on a misdemeanor charge. Said Berry, 64, at a news conference Wednesday: “I hope the publicity that the charges were dropped will be as prominently exposed as when the charges were made. Then I can get on with my life.”
