County OKs New Recycling Center

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved the creation of a recycling center at the Lennox Park Senior Citizens Center.
The center, scheduled to open Dec. 15, will pay 2 1/2 cents for standard-sized glass, aluminum and plastic containers. A receptacle also will be provided for newspapers.
The center will issue vouchers that local grocery stores will exchange for cash.
In approving the center at 10828 Condon Ave., the supervisors said it will have a negligible negative impact on the neighborhood.
A recycling center was approved instead of curbside pick-up because studies showed that house-to-house collection would be little used by Lennox residents, said Mike Mohajer, administrator of recycling programs for the county Department of Public Works.
