FULLERTON : Workshop to Focus on Mideast History

The Humanities Institute at Cal State Fullerton is offering a special two-day workshop on Islamic history aimed at junior high and high school teachers.
The workshop, “Forces That Have Shaped the Middle East,” will deal with history, religion, art and geography in the Middle East. The program is being presented in cooperation with the California Humanities Project and the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies.
Presenters will include John Woods, director of the Chicago center and a professor of Middle Eastern history, and Jerry Fix, a Hartland, Wis., instructor who teaches Arab world studies in high school.
The workshop will be offered Jan. 11 and 12 at the university’s Ruby Gerontology Center. The fee is $125 with advance registration required.
