Univision Flap: A 2-month-old controversy over Spanish commentator Carlos Alberto Montaner’s allegedly anti-Puerto Rican remark, aired Nov. 5 over the Univision network’s “Portada” newsmagazine, has not resulted in a network-wide advertiser pullout as Univision officials initially feared this week. The National Hispanic Media Coalition’s claim that Coca-Cola had joined the pullout proved premature, according to Univision spokeswoman Carmen Herrero Biaggi, and an advertising boycott by New Jersey-based Goya Foods has thus far been confined to Univision’s owned-and-operated station in New York City, WXTV Channel 41.
