Ten days after a Torrance truck driver won $4.3 million in the state lottery, another city resident also struck it rich, a lottery official said Thursday.
Herbert Goya, the second winner, collected $4.6 million after the Quick Pick Lotto ticket he bought Dec. 29 at a Harbor Gateway independent gas station at 22620 Western Ave. produced the six winning numbers.
Goya, who was declared a winner late Wednesday and who declined to provide lottery officials with details about himself, will pocket $184,800 a year for 20 years, the official said. Ten days earlier, truck driver John Benton became a multimillionaire when his Quick Pick Lotto ticket also turned out to have all six winning digits.
The odds of someone getting six winning numbers are one in 23 million.
Benton, who bought his ticket at a Harbor City convenience store, had previously won $215,000 playing the same game. After winning the second time, he told lottery officials he planned to retire.
