Referee Will Mediate Barr Palimony Suit

Future meetings between Roseanne Barr’s attorneys and the palimony lawyer for the comic’s former husband will be mediated by a referee because the sessions have become so raucous, lawyers said Thursday.
After a boisterous hourlong hearing in Los Angeles, Superior Court Judge Bruce Geernaert agreed that a referee should sit in on future meetings between attorneys.
“The sessions we are having are wild,” said attorney Marvin Mitchelson, who represents William Pentland in the $15-million-plus palimony suit against Barr and her current husband, Tom Arnold.
Barr and Pentland didn’t attend the court session. Pentland, whose 14-year marriage to Barr ended in divorce a year ago, filed suit in August saying he is entitled to half her property and $30,000 a month in support payments.
