In nonleague boys’ basketball:
Irvine 53, Corona del Mar 50--Irvine won without leading scorer John Molle, who injured his ankle in the first quarter. Brian Boothroyd scored 19 points for Irvine (13-2).
Saddleback 63, Buena Park 56--Jason Register scored 21 points for host Saddleback (6-8). Angel Barrios led Buena Park (8-6) with 22 points.
University 83, Laguna Hills 69--Luis Venegas had 22 points and Josh Whelihan and David Bianco added 19 each for host University (7-7). Brian Matson scored 30 and Paul LaMott added 25 for Laguna Hills (7-5).
In Angelus League girls’ basketball:
Mater Dei 64, Rosary 38--Melissa McDonald scored 13 points and Celeste Rivera added 12 for host Mater Dei (6-7, 1-0 in league).
In Sunset League girls’ basketball:
Marina 54, Santa Ana 39--Gillian Bean scored 11 points and had six steals and Colleen Hatch scored 10 points and nine rebounds for Marina (10-4, 1-0).
Fountain Valley 55, Ocean View 47--Shanna Wilson had 16 points, Michelle Kravik had 15 and Julie Murdent added 11 for visiting Fountain Valley (9-6, 1-0).
In nonleague girls’ basketball:
Costa Mesa 67, Corona del Mar 54--Olivia DiCamilli had 24 points for visiting Costa Mesa (9-5).
University 73, Irvine 27--Karman Cheng had 16 points and Erica Field had 15 for University (7-5).
In Century League girls’ basketball:
Villa Park 54, Canyon 36--Farah Roney scored 11 points for host Villa Park (4-7, 1-0).
Orange 37, Santa Ana Valley 35--Ginnie Hall, who scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds, scored the winning basket with about 15 seconds left for Orange (2-9, 1-0).
El Modena 69, Foothill 29--Michelle Duckworth scored 15 points and had eight rebounds and Collette Williams scored 13 points for host El Modena (7-3, 1-0).
