Miami Herald to Cut 40 Jobs: The newspaper’s publisher said it is cutting its work force because of the slumping economy. About another 60 jobs will be eliminated through attrition, retirement and by combining duties at the newspaper, the Miami Herald Publishing Co. said. The cutbacks total less than 4% of the 2,700-member work force, the company said. All the job cuts will be on the business side, mostly from circulation and advertising, a spokesman said. No editorial jobs will be eliminated.
