Pete Wilson and the Future of California

If I could put a bug in Wilson’s ear, I would plead for a regular channel of communication with us, the people. And I believe that the best method of doing this would be to hold town meetings on a graduated scale. For example, have an open forum in Los Angeles, San Diego, etc. every three months or so, with Wilson and his staff inviting participants to challenge them on issues which are of concern to them personally.
Such sessions would be beneficial in more ways than one. Instead of complaining about a setback or roadblock, a citizen would have a chance to speak up with a solution of his own. By encouraging participation in the workings of state government, we would have a more informed population and hence more people voting. Wilson has impressed me as an acute listener who can bounce right back with apt answers.
