INSIDE HUSSEIN’S IRAQ
I found Mark Fineman’s article about Saddam Hussein (“Inside Hussein’s Iraq,” Nov. 18) obtuse overall, condescending to Arabs in general.
He neglected to point out that one of the purposes for the occupation of Kuwait was to bring to the attention of the world the imbalance of politics in the Middle East, and his article contains disinformation that supports the unbalanced political status in the Middle East. It does not mention the Arab peoples’ disgust with the West’s double standards in the Middle East. No mention is made of the suffering, killing, brutality and genocide perpetrated indirectly by the United States blindly backing the country of Israel.
The Arab world, which for decades has asked for a dialogue of peace, has nurtured a man like Saddam Hussein. What are the alternatives when any overture to peace falls on deaf ears?
