Accountant Admits Falsifying Tax Returns: Kenneth L. Shattuck, 46, of El Toro, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana to helping his employers at the now-defunct Newport Interstate Properties in Newport Beach secure a $135,000 bank credit line by falsifying tax returns. The charges arose from a probe of a $19-million real estate fraud that investigators say victimized more than 1,000 Southern California investors.
