LONDON — Steve Clark, guitarist for the heavy metal rock group Def Leppard, has died in his sleep at his London townhouse, police reported today.
Authorities said they were investigating the cause of Clark’s death, but added there were no suspicious circumstances.
In New York City, Cliff Burnstein, one of Clark’s managers, said they had just gotten word of the 30-year-old musician’s death.
“The cause of his death is still unknown,” Burnstein said. “They’re doing a post-mortem now.”
He said the group had been recording in Dublin, Ireland, and was taking a break in London.
Clark was one of the founding members of the band which was formed in 1978.
