Kenjiro Shinozuka of Japan, who won Sunday’s stage of the Paris-Dakar Rally, was forced to drop out of the race today after his Mitsubishi Pajero rolled over and was damaged.
The wreck happened near the start of the stage between Gossololom and Agadez in Niger. Shinozuka reportedly was injured and evacuated by a helicopter to receive treatment. No details concerning his injuries were given. His co-driver, Frenchman Henri Magne, has a slight bruise and was taken to Agadez.
