Not Speaking for the Majority

In reply to Tony Lucente’s letter regarding the development project at the corner of Laurel Canyon and Ventura Boulevard, Mr. Lucente’s arguments to me are quite flawed.
First of all, I did not say that the developer was “doing us a favor by bringing more restaurants to the area.” I said upscale restaurants, something the Valley has notably few of.
Second, it isn’t only “liquor-serving restaurants” that bring more traffic to an area; it’s any new commercial establishment.
Why not just leave that big gaping hole at the corner of Ventura and Laurel Canyon? That wouldn’t bring any new traffic to the area.
Third, according to the last census figures for Studio City, the population in 1980 was 30,445.
It is surely more populated now. What Polly Ward does impacts all of the citizens of Studio City, not just the homeowners.
As you see, 1,400 members of the homeowners association make up a very small portion of the total Studio City constituency--vocal perhaps, but hardly a majority.
Once more may I say, please don’t decide for me what is in my best interest. I did not elect Polly Ward to speak for me. I can speak very nicely for myself, thank you.
