Driver Charged in Death of Child Not Wearing Seat Belt

STROUDSBURG, Pa. — A man has been charged in the death of his 4-year-old daughter, who was not wearing a seat belt when she was thrown from his car.
“This is a sad but perfect example of what happens when a parent doesn’t follow the law,” Monroe County Dist. Atty. E. David Christine said Tuesday.
Angelo Anthony Sergi, 38, of Tobyhanna, was charged with homicide by motor vehicle and involuntary manslaughter. Police said that, when Sergi made an illegal U-turn on Dec. 8, his daughter, Theresa, fell out of the car.
Sergi pulled over but could not find his daughter in the dark. A pickup hit the girl moments later, police said.
