Defending state champion heavyweight wrestler Josh Gormley of West Torrance High underwent arthroscopic surgery for torn cartilage in his left knee Tuesday.
The 6-5, 260-pound senior is expected back in three weeks, according to Coach Kent Wyatt.
Gormley defeated the Hawaii state champion in a December tournament to improve his record to 21-0, but his knee “locked” on him shortly after, Wyatt said.
Gormley was named All-CIF Southern Section Division VIII as an offensive lineman in football and is favored to defend his state title.
