In other Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball games:
Fullerton 80, Orange Coast 73--Paul McKinley scored all of his 11 points--three three-pointers and one field goal--in the first half to spring Fullerton to a 44-28 halftime lead.
Kenny Cross scored 19 points and Gary Hunter 17 for Fullerton (12-9, 1-2). Agustin Heredia scored 20 for Orange Coast (9-10, 0-2).
Saddleback 81, Riverside 76--Matt Thompson scored 17 points to lead host Saddleback (11-8, 2-1), which was coming off a 100-77 loss to Rancho Santiago Saturday. Kenney Caesar and Patrick Brown had 12 each and Roy Ankton added 11 for Saddleback.
Duke Sutton scored 22 for Riverside (13-10, 0-2), which led, 36-34, at the half.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball:
Golden West 111, Rancho Santiago 63--Sophomore guard Bits Sirchia scored 31 points for host Golden West (21-1, 3-0). Sirchia was 12 of 24, including six-of-11 shooting on three-point tries, and had a team-high nine assists. Tracey Wolfe scored 24, Jennifer Harney 21, and Allison Bickel had 14 for Golden West, the top-ranked team in the state.
Marianne Karp scored 19 for Rancho Santiago.
Fullerton 61, Orange Coast 48--Vicki Evans scored 16 points and Nicky Durity had 15 with eight rebounds for visiting Fullerton (16-4, 2-1), which out-rebounded OCC, 39-24.
Stacey Giem scored 16 points on seven of nine shooting for Orange Coast. Erika Manning, OCC’s scoring leader at 17 points a game, had her playing time limited because of a sore leg and scored only eight points. OCC is 10-11, 0-2.
Riverside 69, Saddleback 65--Erin Schmeneck scored a game-high 28 in a losing effort for visiting Saddleback (13-5, 1-2). Shannon Garnos had 18 and Kristen Okura had 15 for Saddleback.
