Joe Hicks, former baseball coach at Long Beach City College, who worked as an actor in the off-season, died of cancer. He was 64.
Hicks coached Long Beach to three state championships and seven Southern California titles from 1950 to ’75. Between seasons, he took mostly small parts in movies.
