Lloyd’s Girds for War: Lloyd’s of London, the world’s largest group of insurance underwriters, said it was preparing for war in the Persian Gulf and predicted that rates that have already climbed substantially would jump even more. Higher insurance rates can ultimately mean higher air fares and other prices for consumers. Rates will climb not only in the gulf but also in other geographic areas such as the eastern Mediterranean, Lloyd’s said.
