Looming War in Mideast

What a coward. In War Watch (Commentary, Jan. 6) Rep. Mel Levine (D-Santa Monica) deserted his principles and tried to portray himself tougher on Iraq than George Bush.
“Correct application of force now,” Levine said, “may be the only way to prevent a greater loss of life--perhaps a nuclear holocaust--in the near future. Unfortunately, it is not all that clear that the President has the will to accomplish that.”
What a sneaky way to side with the majority who are too impatient to let our blockade work and still appear courageously critical of the White House.
Levine puts his own reelection above the good of the United States. I’ll never vote for him again, even if I have to settle for an honest hawk.
