Norman G. Brooks, 64, award-winning documentary producer who was nominated for an Academy Award for a public service film, “A Different Approach,” which encouraged employment of the handicapped. A former businessman who joined his wife, Fern Field, to create Brookfield Productions, Brooks won more than 50 international awards. They included the NAACP’s Image Award for the NBC movie “One More Hurdle” and the Humanitas Award for an ABC television movie, “No Greater Gift.” The production that Brooks considered most satisfying personally was “The Littlest Victims,” for CBS, about pediatrician Jim Oleske’s work with infant AIDS patients. In New York City on Jan. 3 of a heart attack.
