CSUN Volleyball Team Wins 4 Matches, Advances to Championship Bracket

Cal State Northridge advanced to the 12-team championship bracket Friday in the 24-team UC Santa Barbara volleyball tournament.
Northridge finished play Friday with a 4-1 record. CSUN beat Cal State Chico, the University of Calgary and San Jose State in its preliminary pool, all in 2-0 sweeps. Then Northridge blanked UC Irvine, 2-0.
The Matadors finished the first day with a 2-1 loss to defending national champion USC.
Northridge was knocked out of the Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. playoffs last year in five games by USC.
