Moorpark’s Wilson Wins WSC Award

Damian Wilson, a 6-foot-1 freshman guard for Moorpark College, was named the Western State Conference player of the week.
Wilson, from Westchester High, scored 86 points to help Moorpark beat Canyons, Bakersfield and West Los Angeles last week. He made 36 of 49 field-goal attempts on the week and scored 33 points against Canyons.
Moorpark’s Donna Houck and Valley’s Katina Mines shared the women’s player of the week honor. Houck, a sophomore from Simi Valley High, scored 41 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in three Moorpark victories.
Valley won three times as well, and Mines, a freshman from Sylmar, had 37 points and 30 rebounds.
