Whale Fest Will Surface in Oceanside

A festival and whale-watching expeditions are scheduled for this weekend in celebration of the gray whale’s migration.
The city of Oceanside is sponsoring a whale festival, including entertainment and educational exhibits. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Pacific Street and Harbor Drive in Oceanside. It will include music, magicians, dancers, a sand-carving demonstration, food and arts and crafts. Whale-watching excursions leave from the Oceanside Harbor every hour on the hour and cost $5 for a two-hour cruise.
The Scripps Aquarium-Museum is sponsoring two excursion cruises to observe migrating whales off the San Diego coast, from 9 to 11 a.m. and again from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $15 per person, and reservations may be made by calling the aquarium, at 534-3474.
