Santa Monica : Construction Plan OKd
The Santa Monica Community College District board of trustees has approved a five-year, $15.6-million construction plan for six projects.
The projects include adding a third floor to the Technology Building; expanding the reading areas of the college’s 22-year-old library; expanding the bookstore and the automotive-repair area, and building a new theater.
College President Richard Moore said several of the projects depend on getting state funding.
The board also approved a five-year plan to catch up on various deferred maintenance projects, estimated to cost more than $500,000. The plan, for academic years 1991-92 through 1996-97, includes reroofing several buildings, replacing doors, a boiler and a natural gas line and repairing the outside of the Student Activities, Sciences and Admissions buildings.
