Jackson, Raiders Make a Statement

So when is the last time the Raiders made the playoffs? In (the Jan. 11) edition, an article written by Chris Baker states: “The Raiders have returned to the NFL playoffs for the first time since 1985.” In the same edition, an article by Larry Stewart states: “The Raiders haven’t played many playoff games at home and the last one was a 27-20 loss to New England in January, 1986.”

So what gives?

Editor’s note: The Raiders last made the playoffs in 1985. As NFL playoffs do, however, those continued beyond New Year’s Day into 1986 , and the Raiders’ most recent previous playoff appearance was the loss to New England on Jan. 5, 1986. Thus, both statements are correct.
