Vons Cos. has promoted Mary M. McAboy to vice president-corporate communications, a new position. She will continue to be in charge of investor relations, public relations and consumer affairs. Her previous title at the Arcadia-based supermarket company was director of corporate communications and investor relations. McAboy, 37, joined Vons in 1987 as director of investor relations.
