Richard E. Baker has succeeded Harold M. Haas as chief financial officer of MCA Inc. In other moves, David R. Hancock has been named to the newly created post of vice president-financial operations and Dennis F. Dallara has been appointed controller, succeeding Baker.
MCA was recently purchased by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. for $6.59 billion. MCA President Sidney J. Sheinberg said Baker will help the company “capitalize on the additional wealth of opportunities that our new relationship with Matsushita will afford.”
Baker began his career with MCA in 1966 as controller of its Universal Pictures division. He became controller of MCA in 1974 and was made a vice president in 1987.
Hancock comes to MCA from Price Waterhouse, where he has served as a partner since 1983. Dallara was been assistant controller of MCA since 1985. Haas will continue as the company’s vice president and treasurer.
