Conrad shows by his Jan. 15 cartoon (“I gave my face to save George Bush’s”) that he has a tenuous grip on reality and good taste. What would President Conrad do, tell the United Nations he was just kidding about that first deadline?
There’s nothing wrong with saving face, nothing wrong with keeping promises, standing on principle, maintaining national pride and dignity, nothing wrong with winning. And I’m sure the unknown trooper in Conrad’s cartoon would concur.
It’s national face Bush is concerned with, not his own. Thank goodness Bush is our President and Conrad is just a cartoonist.
