Disney Reported in Talks With MTM: Walt Disney Co. would not comment on trade reports that the studio was negotiating to buy MTM Entertainment and a minority stake in its British parent company, TVS Entertainment PLC. TVS bought MTM, an independent producer of TV programs, in 1988 for $320 million. Last year TVS was unable to find a partner for MTM, and company officials recently said the production company was no longer for sale. One Disney executive, who requested anonymity, acknowledged that the studio has studied a possible purchase of MTM but was principally interested in the company’s Studio City sound stages rather than its programming.
