Deposits Increase: Small banks in California must be doing something right because they’re attracting more deposits, industry consultant Gerry Findley of Brea said recently.
Back in 1974, the state’s major banks held the lion’s share of banking deposits, leaving the independent banks with only 8%, Findley said. But by the end of 1989, the independents commanded 25% of the market, he said.
