California IN BRIEF : POWAY : Mother Allegedly Stabs Daughter, 6

A mother allegedly stabbed her 6-year-old daughter several times in the chest before turning the knife on herself, authorities reported. The child was hospitalized in fair condition. Her mother, Antonia Garner, 42, was also hospitalized in fair condition and will be eventually booked at the Las Colinas Women’s Facility in Santee on suspicion of child abuse, San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said. A Juvenile Court hold was placed on the girl, which child abuse investigators said prevented any information about her from being released.
