SOFIA, Bulgaria — Viktor Petrenko of the Soviet Union, with a stunning jumping performance, repeated as men’s champion today at the European Figure Skating Championships.
Petrenko, second in the World Championships to Canadian Kurt Browning last March, had six triple jumps.
In the final free program, Petrenko gained marks of 5.8 and 5.9 for technical merit and all 5.9s with a a single 6.0 for artistic impression to a medley of classical music.
Czechoslovakia’s Petr Barna was second with another Soviet, Viacheslav Zagorodniuk third.
