A 21-year-old Oxnard clerk was arrested early Tuesday morning in Port Hueneme on suspicion of embezzlement after he allegedly filed a false report about a robbery, police said.
Jeffrey Todd Hulgan reported a robbery at U.S.A. Fuel Center No. 59 on the 2600 block of North Ventura Road in Port Hueneme about 3:20 a.m., police said. Hulgan told police that he had been robbed at gunpoint.
Police learned that Hulgan, who was on probation for theft, had an outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrant for his arrest. Hulgan was arrested and taken to the Port Hueneme Police Department, where police found $300 in specially packaged bills on him.
