The Sidelines : Chargers Fire Exec. Jack Teele

SAN DIEGO — Jack Teele, a San Diego Chargers executive for the last 10 years after two decades in the Rams’ front office, was fired abruptly by Chargers owner Alex Spanos.

Teele, the assistant to the president, was told about the decision Tuesday after he emerged from a meeting with General Manager Bobby Beathard and sales representatives from the club’s flagship radio station.

“It was a relative surprise, but Mr. Spanos and I had discussed some things about six months ago, so I guess it’s not a total surprise,” Teele said.

Teele, 60, has overseen the business, marketing, public relations and ticket offices since joining the Chargers in 1981.
