COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Golden West Rallies in Ninth to Beat Riverside

Golden West scored three runs in the ninth inning to defeat Riverside, 3-2, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Tuesday in Riverside.
Jason White singled to center and Steve Rath walked to start the ninth. Gerad Cawhorn hit into a double play, but Brian Mena singled to score White. Paul Newfield doubled to left to drive in Mena, and Vince Torres, a sophomore transfer from Riverside, singled to score Newfield with the winning run.
Jeff Henderson (2-3) pitched a seven-hitter with eight strikeouts for the victory for Golden West (6-7, 1-1). Riverside is 14-5, 0-2.
In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Rancho Santiago 9, Orange Coast 2--Paul O’Hearn (5-0) pitched a two-hitter, had eight strikeouts and allowed two unearned runs for host Rancho Santiago (18-3, 4-0). Raul Rodarte had a two-run double to give the Dons a 3-2 lead in the third. Sean Ramos added four hits for Rancho Santiago.
Cypress 13, Fullerton 4--Doug McConathy and Troy Babbitt had three hits each and Kevin Cook added two hits, including a home run, for Cypress (11-4, 2-1). Fullerton is 15-6, 2-1.
In a nonconference game:
Saddleback 17, Imperial Valley 8--Buster Nietzke had four hits, four RBIs and scored three runs for visiting Saddleback (6-8). Brian Walker had three hits and three RBIs, and Ryan Relph had three hits for Saddleback.
